HELPING HAND | WAYS TO ASSIST

The AARP Tax Aid Program provides free tax preparation to low and moderate income residents. Help is needed in Corydon, New Albany and Sellersburg. The tax season runs Feb. 1 through April 15. Volunteers are needed at least 4 hours per week. An information/ orientation meeting will be held Nov. 4, 10 a.m., Clarksville Library, 1312 Eastern Boulevard, Clarksville. The 15th District PTA Clothing Assistance Program needs volunteers all year. They assist Jefferson County Public School children and their families with clothing. Volunteers are needed Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. to sort, hang and size clothing. They are located inside Central High School’s football stadium, 319 S. 15th St. 485-7062.

Uspiritus Therapeutic Foster Care Program is recruiting foster families and families willing to foster to adopt.

Individuals must be 21 or older, show proof of income and have a background check. Training is provided. Uspiritus also provides ongoing support that includes in-home therapy, 24/7 case management, family sessions, monthly trainings and financial reimbursement. Hosparus needs care volunteers in Henry, Jefferson, Shelby, Spencer and Trimble counties. Volunteers are needed for the Jack O’Lantern Spectacular, through Nov. 2, Iroquois Park. Help visitors on and off the trail, help directing parking, scanning tickets and 30-40 volunteers are needed each night to help serve, 6:30-10:30 p.m. weeknights, 6:30-11:30 weekends.
