Jeffersontown kicked off the initial phase of its elaborate downtown improvement project with a ceremonial groundbreaking last week.

The city started work to spruce up the stretch of Taylorsville Road between College Drive and Ruckriegel Parkway with its Taylorsville Road Streetscape Enhancement Project.

The city received a $2.8 million federal grant through the Kentuckiana Regional Planning and Development Agency for the project.
