Airport plans $8 million makeover

The Louisville Regional Airport Authority plans the first major makeover in a decade of the Jerry E. Abramson Terminal, with work on tap costing up to $8 million.

The envisioned improvements are chiefly cosmetic upgrades that will include lighting and flooring as well as new escalators and artwork throughout the Louisville International Airport passenger terminal.

The intent is to make the terminal “the airport of choice throughout our service area and to enhance the experience” of the hundreds of thousands of visitors who use the facility every year, Skip Miller, the authority’s executive director, said in a memo Wednesday to the authority directors.
