Schnitzelburg gets a Farmer’s Market



Schnitzelburg Community Farmers Market to open this Spring!

Date & Time:  April 15, 2017; 10am-1pm

Location: 1481 S. Shelby Street Louisville, KY  40217

The Schnitzelburg Community Farmers Market (SCFM) is excited and proud to announce their opening on Saturday, April 15th from 10 am-1 pm.  The location of the market is in the parking lot of The Cure Lounge, 1481 S. Shelby Street (on the corner of S. Shelby Street & E. Burnett Avenue) in Louisville’s Schnitzelburg neighborhood. There will be a Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting ceremony at 10am with local dignitaries in attendance, and the SCFM will be receiving a proclamation from Metro Louisville.  There will be other activities such as face painting, door prizes, breakfast and lunch options, and special guests the Kentucky State University Ambassagoats!

The SCFM is a 501c3 Non-Profit Corporation and is the first community owned farmers market in Kentucky.

The mission statement of the organization reads: “The Schnitzelburg Community Farmers Market is a farmer-focused market providing access to local, sustainable, and healthy foods serving the Louisville community.  We are a community based organization managed solely by volunteers and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors with the purpose of creating an environment of cooperation and community building.  Our objective is to have a positive impact in the Schnitzelburg neighborhood and the surrounding community.”

The SCFM will provide food access serving Schnitzelburg and the surrounding neighborhoods, including German-Paristown, Shelby Park, Smoketown, St. Joseph, Parkway Village, Meriwether, Old Louisville, and George Rogers Clark bringing these communities together to support fresh local food and our local economy.
