Jefferson Co. PVA Colleen Younger is Finalist for National Award:

Louisville, KY  (November 26, 2019) – Jefferson County Property Valuation Administrator Colleen Younger traveled to San Antonio, Texas where she and staff were honored as finalists in the Route Fifty Navigator Awards for excellence in state and local government.  From more than 200 nominees, The Jefferson County PVA Office was designated one of ten finalists in “The Electeds” award category highlighting Colleen Younger’s leadership and the work of her office in the implementation of their “You Have a Right to Appeal” public outreach campaign.

The PVA’s ongoing “You Have a Right to Appeal” public outreach campaign was created to demystify the role of the PVA and the public’s rights regarding property valuation.  Utilizing a robust schedule of public appearances and multimedia resources, Ms. Younger and staff have engaged the public to promote greater understanding of property valuation and the appeals process.  Ms. Younger said, “We’ve worked very hard because we believe we must be open and transparent to serve the public well, and our goal is to broaden participation in the property value appeals process—this is essential in assuring fair and equitable property assessments for the people of Jefferson County.”

Regarding the Route Fifty awards, Ms. Younger said, “It is a great honor to be among some of the outstanding leaders across the country and for our office to be recognized for this important campaign which promotes higher accountability and transparency.”

Route Fifty is a digital publication of the Atlantic Media Group, launched in 2015 with the objective of connecting state and local government officials to share relevant news and ideas with a focus on technological innovation and best practices in government management.
